On Feb 22nd 2012, in Hanoi, General Director of the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Nguyen Van Tuan warmly welcomed the Secretary-General of ASEAN- China Centre, Mr. Ma Ming Quiang.
The event had the attendance of leaders of VNAT’s Office, International Cooperation, Tourism Marketing, Travel, Hotel Departments and Institute for Tourism Development Research; and representatives of ASEAN- China Centre, China Development Bank, economic corporations and enterprises.
ASEAN- China Centre came into operation since 2011. The visit of Mr. Ma Ming Quiang aims at looking for demands and possibilities for co-operation between China and Asean countries.
At the welcoming ceremony, General Director of VNAT emphasized China is one of leading markets of Viet Nam tourism. The number of Chinese tourists to Viet Nam was 1.4 million arrivals in 2011, increasing by 57% over 2010 and accounting for 23% of total international tourists to Viet Nam. Furthermore, China is also an attractive destination for Vietnamese tourists. The establishment of ASEAN- China Centre is a chance to promote tourism cooperation between the two countries, Tuan said.
Being close neighbors, the two countries should enhance propagandizing activities to attract more tourists to travel across border, Quiang said. In addition, the ASEAN- China Centre has also promoted Viet Nam’s tourist attractions such as: Nha Trang, Hue…on its website.
The two sides agreed to strengthen information exchanges, promotion, investment, personnel training… in the future. |
